Grand Tazi

This budget hotel’s informal bar allows impecunious travellers to kick back over cheap beer. It’s shabby, but one of few places to enjoy drinks in the medina.

The bar in the Tazi is all an institution in Marrakech and a long standing stop off point for a cold beer or two on a hot day. The bar is busy with Moroccan men drinking beer and watching sport on the TV while the couches in reception are a more comfortable area to sit. The waiters are that fantastic, apparently surly type but once you’ve caught their attention with a smile they are as helpful as could be asked for. It’s a small slice of real life Marrakech tradition and if all you want is to sit and rest for a while with a cool drink it’s great.
